Worth a Look: A really interesting article on battery technology improvements in Ars Technica. Scott K. Johnson does a great job explaining the complexities in a level that pretty much anyone can understand (though if needed, use Wikipedia for the terms he doesn’t get to, such as anode [1] and cathode [2]). The best part to me is, “the real price of lithium-ion cells, scaled by their energy capacity, has declined by about 97 percent since their commercial introduction in 1991.” Eternally five years away? No, batteries are improving under your nose [3] is about a 12-minute read.
