I found this photo while stumbling through the intertubes, at: Alaska’s Digital Archives
The back of the photo said “View of the interior of the Fairbanks Radio Station, circa 1922-1923.”. My first thought was that this was a commercial station due to the size of the mystery components (are those capacitors bolted to the wall?), but according to Wikipedia – History of Radio, regular entertainment broadcasts commenced in 1922 from the Marconi Research Centre at Writtle, England.
If the Marconi Research Centre just started up regular entertainment broadcasts, with the number of receivers in the Fairbanks area, is this a government or amateur station?
