Radio Day Camp, 5-Day, Morning Session


This camp is designed for kids entering grades 7 – 12 who are interested in learning about amateur (HAM) radio.  Duration is 5 days, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Limited seats available.  There will be indoor and outdoor activities.  Dress appropriately!

Held at the Radio Science and Operations Center (RSOC).  Summer radio camp will feature basic electronics, radio theory and operation, safety, basic emergency communications, basic satellite communications, number systems, computer components, interfacing computers with communications equipment, repeaters, antennas, connectors, cables, ropes, generators, cable locating, and radio direction finding.  We will even have a segment on drones and how they can be used in amateur radio.

Bonus:  Camp attendees are invited to participate in a nationwide radio operating event (radio contest) on Saturday, August 17.

Ages:  Attendees must be in or entering grades 7 – 12

An amateur radio license is not required for participants in this class.
