ANMC Hospital Disaster Preparedness staff have embraced amateur radio and its capabilities. They have purchased gear over the years and host the Anchorage Winlink HF gateway, as well as an APRS VHF digipeater. The station is also capable of voice and CW HF operations, VHF voice and packet operations, and most recently, became host to two important MESH network nodes. One of these nodes covers Anchorage to the North and Northeast, the other looks to the south. There is also a Grandstream VOIP telephone installed with video capabilities. The hospital also provides an internet connection for the HF Winlink gateway as well as the MESH.
