Reminder – Last Day to Take Advantage the 2020 Special Tax Credit

By:  Kent Petty, KL5T, Treasurer

This is just a reminder that today is the last day to take advantage of the tax year 2020 special $300 tax deduction for donations to non-profit charitable organizations.  YOU DON’T NEED TO ITEMIZE YOUR TAXES to take advantage of this tax break.  Charities, like ours, are hurting this year, so congress changed the rules for now.  Please see below.  The Anchorage Amateur Radio Club / Radio Science and Operations Center will be happy to help!

It has essentially always been true that individuals who itemize deductions on their IRS Form 1040, Schedule A, can deduct donations to qualifying charities (such as us, the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club).  This year, the IRS is also allowing people who do NOT itemize to deduct up to $300.00 on their tax return provided that the donation is made before December 31, 2020.  The article describing this situation is entitled:

Special $300 tax deduction helps most people give to charity this year – even if they don’t itemize

The Club can really use any donation this year – and almost any other year.  Don’t forget the 31 December 2020 deadline!
