Eternally five years away? No, batteries are improving under your nose

Worth a Look: A really interesting article on battery technology improvements in Ars Technica. Scott K. Johnson does a great job explaining the complexities in a level that pretty much anyone can understand (though if needed, use Wikipedia for the terms he doesn’t get to, such as anode and cathode). The best part to me is, “the real price of lithium-ion cells, scaled by their energy capacity, has declined by about 97 percent since their commercial introduction in 1991.” Eternally five years away? No, batteries are improving under your nose is about a 12-minute read.
