AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, JOHN LYNN, KL7CY, HAS TURNED INTO A SNOWBIRD AND RELINQUISHED CONTROL OF THE SOUTH CENTRAL SIMPLEX NET (FORMERLY THE BIG CITY SIMPLEX NET) AS OF A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. JOHN, KL3KZ, TOOK OVER PRIMARY DUTIES AT THAT TIME WITH A BIT MORE THAN A LITTLE HELP FROM CRAIG, KL4E. NOW, JOHN, KL3KZ HAS TO LEAVE THE STATE PERMANENTLY, THUS LEAVING THE DUTIES TO CRAIG. CRAIG HAS DONE A GREAT JOB OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS RUNNING THE NET, BUT HAS SOME OTHER SERIOUS COMMITMENTS THAT WOULD PRESENT A CHALLENGE FOR HIM TO CONTINUE ON AS THE PRIMARY NET CONTROL STATION FOR THE GROUP. FURTHER, CRAIG SUGGESTS THAT HE REALLY HASN’T BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYONE ELSE TO STEP UP TO FILL THE ROLE.

ENTER THE AARC CLUB MEETING/CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE RADIO SCIENCE AND OPERATIONS CENTER (RSOC). CRAIG, KL4E, SHARED THE DILEMMA AND THE POTENTIAL FOR THE NET TO DIE WITHOUT A CHAMPION. HE BROUGHT UP THE IDEA OF THE RSOC TAKING OVER PRIMARY NET CONTROL/MANAGER DUTIES AND A DISCUSSION TO THAT END WAS INITIATED.

IN THE END, WE CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION THAT WE HOPE WILL WORK FOR MOST FOLKS. THE IDEA IS INDEED FOR THE RSOC TO TAKE OVER AS NET CONTROL/MANAGER. THE RSOC SEEMS TO BE FULLY EQUIPPED TO ENGAGE IN ALL THE FREQUENCIES AND MODES USED BY THE NET, AND MAY HAVE A FEW MORE TO ADD TO THE MIX.

HOWEVER, THERE IS A TWIST. TO GET THIS OFF THE GROUND AT THE START AND TO ENSURE FOLKS ARE INDEED AVAILABLE TO MAN THE RSOC FOR THE NET, WE DECIDED TO MOVE THE NET FROM TUESDAY NIGHT TO WEDNESDAY NIGHT (SAME BAT TIME AND BAT STATION). THE CHANGE GOES INTO EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.

WHAT?????   WHY?????   WHAT IS THIS CRAZY TALK????? ….. I THOUGHT YOU’D ASK. ANSWER?:  BECAUSE WE ALWAYS HAVE FOLKS PRESENT AT THE RSOC ON WEDNESDAYS FOR “WORKING WEDNESDAYS”, THUS OPERATORS WILL BE AVAILABLE.  WILL IT BE A PERMANENT MOVE?  ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

ALL THIS SAID, WE HOPE TO HAVE FOLKS WHO ARE REGULARS ON THE NET COME ON DOWN TO THE RSOC TO TAKE THEIR TURN IN THE HOT SEAT AS NET CONTROL. ACTUALLY, WE HOPE TO HAVE 2 OR 3 FOLKS THERE TO HELP RUN THAT NET. IT SHOULD BE A LOT OF FUN AND WE ARE EAGER TO GET FOLKS TRAINED UP ON THE GEAR AT THE RSOC.

SO PLEASE, IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY A REGULAR ON THE NET, MAKE THE CHANGE YOUR CALENDAR AND SHIFT THAT TUESDAY NIGHT ENGAGEMENT TO WEDNESDAY NIGHT. ALSO, PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO OTHERS SO THEY ARE AWARE. WE WILL BE SURE TO HAVE SEVERAL FOLKS MONITORING 146.52 THIS COMING TUESDAY TO LET THOSE WHO DON’T GET THIS MESSAGE KNOW THAT THE NET NIGHT HAS MOVED TO WEDNESDAYS.

AS A REMINDER TO EVERYONE, THE NET MEETS UP ON 146.52 MHZ FM AT 2000L. FROM THERE WE WORK OUR WAY AROUND THE BANDS AND MODES, AND ARE EVEN ON PACKET USING THE EAGLE AND VALLEY NODES (IF YOU NEED MORE INFO ABOUT THESE NODES, DROP US A LINE AT INFO@KL7AA.ORG. OH…..THERE MIGHT BE SOME “TWISTS” TO WHAT WE DO ON THE NET. THERE MIGHT BE SOME OTHER FREQUENCIES AND MODES INVOLVED! WHAT MIGHT THEY BE? WELL…..I’VE BEEN SWORN TO SECRECY AND THE CAT WON’T BE LET OUT OF THE BAG UNTIL THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11!

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
